The DSS15 TUBE, is the Blacknote basic Digital Static Streamer powered with an output tube stage.
A Digital streamer is a multi media player capable of processing any kind of audio format through any kind of external device connected via USB.
Because its technology the DSS15 TUBE virtually over jumps all the physical troubles related to the Jitter, the Vibrations, the Wear as much as all the distortions unappeasably afflict every digital Compact Disc Player.
On the same Linux platform used for the DSS 30, Blacknote developed a versatile 24bit high definition Digital Static Source, with a SD port to manage its internal static memory.
The DSS15 TUBE features two 2.0 USB ports on the front panel. The unit can play any kind of high definition audio tacks files like Wav, Flac, and others, as well as commonly used compressed files such as MP3, MP4, etc. Files are fed into the DSS directly via its USB ports without the need of any Digital to Analog converter or computer connection. Obvious and consequential is the fact that audio tracks can be played from any external device such as USB Memory Sticks, Hard Disks, Computers and even CD Rom players having USB connection.
The functions of the DSS are controlled thru a customised Texas-Instruments microchip programmed with a special software able to manage any eventual necessary future up-grade of the unit.
The DSS two lines display shows the main functions of the unit: the track name of the audio file, the time, and even the format/quality of the track being handled. It is really easy to use it because it can be simply controlled thru the six front panel buttons or its remote control.
The DSS15 TUBE features a superior quality tube analog output stage based on two 6922 valves. Such new separately powered output stage is a truly balanced design no-matching any transistor in order to get the highest sonic performance.
The Power supply dedicated to the mother board and the DAC board is decoupled thru two “fused silicon” transformers specially shaped by Analog Device.
The Digital to Analog stage is strictly derived from the DSS 30 one made with the same customized AKM DAC, having a real 24bit real resolution.
The DSS 15 features a sophisticated, high quality Digital-to-Analog converter also. The Digital 75ohm RCA input allows the unit to be connected to any CD player transport that would be able to use the extraordinary performance and characteristics of the DSS unit directly.
The DSS 15 features even a Coax digital output having a S/PDIF compliance connection.
