The DSS 30 TUBE is the valve powered version of the DSS 30 Blacknote "Digital Static Streamer".
As the standard version the TUBE is a multi media player capable of processing any kind of audio format through any kind of external device connected via USB. The absolutely absence of any moving device inside enables the DSS to brake the wall present so far on the traditional CD player, dismissing the problem to the basis. Virtually the DSS units over jump all the physical troubles related to the Jitter, the Vibrations, the Wear as much as all the distortions unappeasably afflict every digital Compact Disc Player.
Designed around a 100% open source Linux platform, Blacknote made its most powerful 24bit high definition Digital Static Source.
The DSS 30 TUBE connectivity features two front and three rear 2.0 USB ports, one of which dedicated to the computer only, one Ethernet port and one RS 232 serial port for LAN connection.
The DSS 30 can play any kind of high definition audio tacks files like Wav, Flac, AIFF, Alac and others, as well as commonly used compressed files such as MP3, M4A, AAC, etc. Files are fed into the DSS directly via its USB ports without the need of any Digital to Analog converter or computer connection. Obvious and consequential is the fact that audio tracks can be played from any external device such as USB Memory Sticks, Hard Disks, Computers and even CD Rom External Drive players having USB connection.
All the functions are managed thru a customised Texas-Instruments microchip programmed with a special software able to control any future up-grade of the unit.
The DSS display shows the main functions of the unit: the track name of the audio file, the time, and even the format/quality of the track being handled. It is really easy to use it because it can be simply controlled thru the six front panel buttons or its remote control.
The power supply is made with three dedicated customised transformers. Any transformer supplies the power directly to the Digital Stage and the Analog stage and the output tube stage. The whole power supply is rectified with a Current Generator exclusively designed for the DSS products.
The Power supply dedicated to the mother board and the DAC board is decoupled thru two "fused silicon" transformers specially shaped by Analog Device.
The Digital to Analog stage is managed thru customized DAC made by AKM and Burr-Brown. The proprietary circuit design of the DAC enable the DSS 30 a real 24bit resolution.
The DSS 30 features a superior quality tube analog output stage based on two 6922 valves. Such new separately powered output stage is a truly balanced design no-matching any transistor in order to get the highest sonic performance.
The DSS 30 features a sophisticated, high quality Digital-to-Analog converter also. The Digital 75ohm RCA input allows the unit to be used with any traditional CD player transport that would be able to use the extraordinary performance and characteristics of the DSS innovative technology.
The DSS features even a Coax digital output having a S/PDIF compliance connection.
